Walking Stick Cosy #3, Podcast #3

The third show is made, but there are a few re-records that need to happen, some additional things that need to be added and a few changes made here and there. In the final episode, I end up with a section from my conversation with Betsan from Stitchlinks, about Frida Khalo, talking about control and […]

first knitted walking stick cosy competition entry!!

Well today in my PO Box I picked up a very promising looking package. It was indeed the first official entry to The Missability Walking Stick Cosy Competition… I won’t divulge too much here, but it’s very amazing and very fantastical and I was super excited to receive it!!!

Kitchen Yarns and Cosies.

I appear to have finished my polka dot walking stick cosy, which means I am itching to make another. The polka dot cosy is surprisingly heavy with all the stranding across the back and has a luxurious, dense feeling about it because of the silk/cashmere content. It has been very soothing to knit it while […]

Birthdays, Birds, Kites and Radiowaves…

It’s been a good day of editing. Another version of the first podcast, this time with better linking sections and more music. I have loads of material for numbers 2 and 3; just need the time now to organise it all!! On the way to the Prince concert on Friday me and Mark saw this: […]

Oxford Kitchen Yarns!

It is super exciting to have witnessed the illustrious yarns coming from my friend’s kitchen! Katie bought the gems below to our Bluestockings meeting this week and there were many ‘ooohs’ and ‘aahs’ and much fondling of skeins. The beautiful knitting in the dark tangerine colour is also an Oxford Kitchen Yarn. Don’t the stitches […]

1000 hits on the website!!!

1000 hits on the website!!!

Stitchlinks, i-knit, Brenda Dayne and Weaverknits!

Lots to report. Firstly, I had a brilliant day last Thursday with Betsan of Stitchlinks. We talked and talked and talked and talked and talked and I felt an incredible affinity with her project and ideas, and I’m really excited about what we may do together in the future! As an ex physiotherapist Betsan has […]

101 in 1001

With time management and self-actualistion so at the fore of things right now, I couldn’t help noticing this great project that a friend of mine recently blogged about: 101 things to do in 1001 days I think this will be a great thing to fill out after the Missability Radio Show is done and I […]

Ideas

There is so much thinking to be done at the moment. The Missability Radio Show is getting publicity and I’m reaching out to people all over the web re: this project. I feel like I’m understanding it and making sense of it as I go along… it’s much more scary, putting unfinished ideas out in […]

Missability goes to the shops

Tomorrow the Bluestockings are going on a yarn crawl. I have hidden my bank card somewhere where even I can’t reach it, have placed apportioned stash budget in wallet, and have a whole basket packed with fliers and posters about the knitting competition to bring with me. I have also packed my polka-dot walking stick […]

More Missability.

Am pretty tired and my head is spinning with college stuff and plans for a currently-secret-knitting-competition I have planned! [watch this space] Other than that I have nothing new to report; Kiri shall resume the moment I get to that point in my priorities pile. (Haha probably in about ten years time!) The knitters have […]

Today’s truly inspirational YouTube videos.

For accordion inspiration, see this. And for baking inspiration, see this.

Country Life Butter Advert.

So today began with a random obsession with 1. identifying and 2. downloading the music from the latest country life butter advertisement. I know: how random can I be? Yet Others have suffered recently from similar preoccupations, and thanks to their postings I not only identified the piece in question as Jack Strachey’s In The […]

5km run.

Finally: photos from the 5km run I did last weekend! This is right before the race. I found it very emotional filling out my ‘I race for…’ card and thinking about the people I know who have Cancer. I also found it overwhelming and a significant milestone for me to be able to run. This […]

English Sun.

Even meerkats (which normally live in the African desert) find the Oxfordshire sunshine a little too much at times. More Oxfordshire meerkats here.

World Wide Knit in Public Day

The WWKIP day was wonderful. Although the weather was too fickle for us to have our planned picnic, The Royal Oak accommodated us easily and provided plenty of lush pimms and coffee. The oxford bluestockings were out in full force with inspiring projects and fabulously comprehensive knitting knowledge. I got a very helpful tutorial on […]

Finished Object.

Well I finally finished the green bag from First Knits. It is pictured here with some of the green yarns I bought from the Mobair stall at Blenheim, and giant buttons I got from the Craft Fair in Brighton that I drove to for viewing the very fabulous knitted garden for myself. This pattern was […]

Extra-curricular activities.

It’s been a really good Bank Holiday weekend involving lots of crafterly stuff and inspiration. The trip to Blenheim Palace Craft Fair on Saturday with some of the Oxford Bluestockings crowd was really great. I went mad in the yarn store, had some more colourways thoughts re: dyeing my own wool and enjoyed the scenic […]

Eggs, Hats and Houses.

The hat I knitted for my partner’s mother was gifted before I photographed it, but it was well-received and the bamboo Rowan yarn is the perfect thing for a soothing, summer hat. I have 2 more skeins in a silver colorway that I will use for the more ambitious Shedir when I get a moment […]

Spring is in the air

I wish all my dye plants were doing as well as my tulips; Madder is doing best of all at a whole 6cm tall. Everything else is still far too small and weak for planting out just yet. My Job’s Tears grass has started to grow; I have a whole tray of them currently germinating […]
