There have been some beautiful clouds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3521\/4077589766_83de3fceda.jpg?resize=410%2C307\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"307\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And the orange shades in the leaves look gorgeous against the blue sky.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3508\/4076835371_596eab6932.jpg?resize=410%2C307\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"307\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I love the spectacle of a warm, light room against a cold, bright sky. Walking past the old red-brick school and seeing this the other day, I thought of &#8216;going-home time&#8217; and the excitement of the school bell ringing. These memories are associated for me with a sudden transition from sleepy indoors to vivid outdoors, and to the excitement of bonfire night and fireworks that I remember from childhood and still feel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2743\/4076834817_e4aa952f6f.jpg?resize=410%2C307\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"307\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2754\/4076834675_625f4d8505.jpg?resize=410%2C307\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"307\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I love how many mysterious and beautiful old buildings lurk in the quiet backstreets of Reading. What <em>was<\/em> this building in Cardigan Gardens?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2487\/4076834539_0e11073aee.jpg?resize=410%2C407\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"407\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This brickwork is so distinctive in Reading; patterns of pale against dark, and ornate finishings at the edgings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2729\/4076833991_ce8d88773b.jpg?resize=410%2C297\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"297\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I find that at twilight, luminous things glow in a most unearthly fashion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3492\/4076833815_22c3c4be6e.jpg?resize=410%2C305\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"305\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But then this really is the time of year for bright oranges, and lurid light.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2534\/4076868867_74f8d04267.jpg?resize=410%2C307\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"307\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sticks&#8217;n&#8217;String pumpkin lantern.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2692\/4076870207_d566ca27c2.jpg?resize=410%2C307\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"307\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Gemma&#8217;s stunningly delicious and slightly luminous baked squash cheesecake.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2743\/4077625368_b9ff92b40a.jpg?resize=410%2C307\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"307\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I saw <a href=\"http:\/\/cseneque.wordpress.com\/2009\/11\/02\/happy-monday\/\">this beautiful post on Herbivore knits<\/a> the other day which I enjoyed very much; it features many images of yellow things, juxtaposed with blues and greys in perfect balance.<\/p>\n<p>And I have also been enjoying <a title=\"Sakurasnow - palette for a blustery week\" href=\"http:\/\/sakurasnow.wordpress.com\/2009\/11\/04\/colour-palettes-for-a-blustery-mid-week\/\" target=\"_blank\">this<\/a> by <a title=\"Sakurasnow\" href=\"http:\/\/sakurasnow.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sakurasnow<\/a>. So lovely to see how all these seasonal colours can be filtered down into a palette.<\/p>\n<p>I have also been enjoying the atmosphere of <a title=\"James Wyness\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wyness.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">James Wyness&#8217;s<\/a> release, <em>figure and ground<\/em>, but I shall save this up for another post, to include more weather and sounds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thank you all for your lovely words about Jenny, and for sharing your own dog stories; this has been much appreciated and has bought cheer to the cold days and the subdued atmosphere.
