I present a fingerless mitten, knit with Fyberspates<\/a>‘ squishy yarn and Mobair left over from the River stole.<\/p>\n

I love the stitch detail, the way the dark green lace-weight works against the soft whites and pinks of the DK Fyberspates yarn: Thanks for suggesting it, Lara<\/a> and Katie!<\/a><\/p>\n

The colours are quite busy by themselves, so I didn’t want to do anything more adventurous than stocking stitch. This is also my first glove. My mattress stitching isn’t a total disgrace, but I am a bit bothered by the fit, or lack thereof, of this glove. It’s quite tight around the fingers and then baggy on the wrist… still, it is very nurturing for an extremely inflamed hand and knitting it was a great distraction from high pain levels yesterday. I kept thinking about what Betsan from Stitchlinks<\/a> has said to me in the past about using knitting as a distraction from pain; it really works.<\/p>\n

I hope now that I have enough yarn to make the second glove; the ball is looking very thin and I’ve checked everywhere and this Fyberspates yarn doesn’t appear to exist in any form anywhere, so it really needs to stretch to the end of glove #2. It’s been such a lovely, effortlessly fast project, I’m wondering why I don’t use DK more… and if I have to rip everything back again and make two smaller gloves, that will be OK too.<\/p>\n
