What I have been doing online…

…when I haven’t been writing here.

1. Organising a brand new Sonic Advent Calendar for the sound-diaries website. The calendar launched today with a fun recording by Anton Mobin featuring the sounds that are produced by dismantling and twiddling with a musical greetings card.

Bugged Posctard, by Anton Mobin, featured on 1st December on the Sonic Advent Calendar, a sound-diaries project.

You may remember the first sound-diaries Sonic Advent Calendar which was co-created by myself and my supervisor – Paul Whitty back in 2008?

I love listening back to those recordings, but it’s really nice to be doing something with more people involved. So I’ve been sending emails back and forth, lining up 24-second long sounds from different contributors, and thinking about the sounds I associate with this time of year.

What sounds do you connect with Advent, and why?

2. Listing all the books I no longer need or have no space to keep for sale here on Amazon and all the CDs I no longer need or have no space to keep here on Discogs.

3. Scheming with Mark for a major walking project to beat the cold.

4. Reading articles on WordPress plugins for a potential client in need of a website… people, what do you all think about this gallery plug-in? It shows photos from my beautiful Miami holiday which are a much-needed reminder of warmer climes and bright funshine.

…if the gallery doesn’t inspire you, maybe you’ll enjoy the sounds… I know for me they are a happy reminder of exotic good times.

5. Recording Gene Pool podcasts with Martin Franklin over here. We explored contact microphones last week and Miami soundscapes and underground sewer tour soundscapes the week before that…
