The vest is finally done. I ripped back the seams 3 times before I was happy with the way they were looking; I think mattress stitch on bias fabric with ribbing on it is ridiculously difficult to seam neatly and if I knit this again, I’ll adapt it in such a way that it can be executed in the round.
…but I love it. I love the bias fabric and the way it hugs and drapes. And although it knit up a little bit stringy in the home-dyed 4-ply, the mercerised cotton is comfortingly heavy and drapes beautifully. I think I need to dye a cotton vest to go underneath as there is rather too much bra peeking out otherwise…
And I had to do the neck a few times to get a non-holey look going on, but the extra effort was worth it.
Pattern: 81-27 Top in Muskrat by DROPS design
Mods: Handkerchief edge and hip shaping (20 extra stitches to begin with, decreasing 2 sts every 3 rows until working in same number of sts as pattern, and begin working decrease/shaping rows immediately)
Yarn: Patons 4-ply mercerised cotton in coral/blush colour, overdyed by me with Dylon cold dye in cherry and Dylon machine dye in rust
