I SPY Oyster mushrooms

Yesterday morning, walking near Nuney Green, I SPIED some Oyster mushrooms, growing on a branch!

According to my vintage I SPY book, in August 1962 this fungus was also spied in Cranwell. The emphasis in the I SPY book on Oyster mushrooms having a distinctly grey or black top left me feeling slightly doubtful about these rather white specimens. However, having researched a little online I am very confident now that in spite of their pale complexion, these are indeed Oyster mushrooms.

Hurrah for curiosity.

Hi! Thanks very much for visiting my blog!! I’m glad you found it interesting! We have got quite carried away lately trying to identify wild plants and berries, I was never really good at that so we got a wild food book and it’s proving very useful! You mentionned sloes – you might be able to help me! I keep seeing what i think are sloes, but I can’t be 100% sure – can you post some photos of them after your gin making weekend? Cheers xx
