Spring is in the air

I wish all my dye plants were doing as well as my tulips; Madder is doing best of all at a whole 6cm tall. Everything else is still far too small and weak for planting out just yet. My Job’s Tears grass has started to grow; I have a whole tray of them currently germinating as the first few shoots looked so great and I thought it would be brilliant to have a whole allotment full of home-grown beads.

Alkanet, dyer’s greenweed and black sunflowers are also doing well at the seedling stage; my bedroom windowsill is now covered in plants.

Today I shall be mostly knitting.
