It’s been a really good Bank Holiday weekend involving lots of crafterly stuff and inspiration. The trip to Blenheim Palace Craft Fair on Saturday with some of the Oxford Bluestockings crowd was really great. I went mad in the yarn store, had some more colourways thoughts re: dyeing my own wool and enjoyed the scenic views of the lake at Blenheim.
Other highlights of the day included good chats with Katie, Will and Kim in the car on the way to and from the craft fair, and much delight at the discovery of the tiniest knitting needles and the biggest buttons I’d ever seen in the one place.
The tiny knitting is Katie’s. I am so unused to steel needles that my attempt to start a miniature sock for a necklace instantly failed. One of this week’s priorities is to learn the way of the steel needles.
Ho yes.
After Blenheim, (which also included some falconry from Liz and Ellen – pics on my flickr) we visited the oxford Spinners, Weavers and Dyer’s Guild Artweeks show, where we got to see some Madder-dyed yarn and talk to lots of people about the joys of spinning and dyeing. On Sunday I also visited lots of Artweeks shows, which I will blog about at a later point. After a day of meeting all day in college today to discuss the MA festival, it is safe to say that my creativity pot is nice and full. To add to all this, my handbag is finally being blocked and I hope to have it sewn tomorrow to take with me to the Oxford Bluestockings weekly knitting joyfest.
