In my post this morning, I forgot to mention the massive confidence-boosting power that Liz’s lovely socks gave me yesterday, at the conference.
Yes, it was the first time that I’ve worn the lovely socks she gave me before I had surgery.
They are gorgeously soft, fit my feet perfectly, and nurture my toes in every way. I loved wearing them all day long and they gave me a marvellous feeling from the toes up.
I have also enjoyed my newly finished Jaywalkers during my stay in Newcastle. And even though it’s June, I’ve appreciated the woolly goodness.
I love the pooling, the striping, the shaping, the warmth.
But most of all, I love the colours.
My feet have mended really well. There is some reversion to the former wonkiness; they haven’t stayed ramrod straight since I had the surgery and are lapsing slightly. But I am pleased with the results; the main point is that now there is space between my toes and I feel generally that it will be easier to walk and run, in the longterm. There is a massive, visible improvement in the before and after shots:
This is my feet BEFORE surgery:
…and this is the AFTER surgery shot:
So there is quite a difference… and that difference compels me to knit endless socks. There will be socks… many, many socks… and hopefully, in time, much walking.
