You may remember the talented Lisa Busby of Sleeps in Oysters, whose work has turned up in this blog before? I haven’t seen Lisa in ages since she has spent the last couple of months buried in her home in London, sewing CD cases for the latest Sleeps in Oysters release: ‘We kept the memories locked away in matchboxes like the beetles of our childhood, or How to appreciate someone who’s always around.’ The album artwork looks beautifully handmade featuring buttons, woven name tags and own-design postcards. If the music Lisa sent me before is anything to go by, the audio contents of the lovely package will be a folkatronic journey through delicate beats, whispery vocals and enchanting melodies.
I have ordered my copy from Seed Records and will let you know how the sounds are sounding when I’ve had a really good listen. You can hear Sleeps in Oysters at their myspace.
Other musical things that are exciting right now include the Foxes! Christmas songs which you can listen to on the Foxes! Last FM page. Kayla of Mundane Appreciation is the singer and drummer in Foxes! as well as being the innovator of many of the Fantastical Reality Radio Show’s finest jingles. Kayla sings on the much loved Perfect Cup of Tea jingle, for instance.
I hope you enjoy the music of Foxes! and Sleeps in Oysters as much as I do.
