Thursday’s numbers

973846284648230473 is the number of messages left on various answerphones around Reading on Thursday when keys to the installation space for The Sonic Tuck Shop were nowhere to be found!

5.5 is the number of weight watchers points in a whole packet of Ainsley Harriott’s amazing Citrus Kick couscous. Couscous is an amazing lunch when you have many stairs to climb and much installing to do…

250 is the quantity of pence required to print 100 “missing-cat” fliers at the printing shop in Reading, and 45 is the number of minutes required to post them through all the letterboxes on four adjacent streets.

9 is the number of slices of bread utilised in the development of this Sonic Toast, which Mark was rather peeved to not be allowed to eat; ‘Can I have this toast?’ ‘No Mark, it’s part of The Art.’ ‘Oh.’

4 is the number of Sonic Tuck Shop ribbons that I have handprinted.

30+ is the number of ‘darns’ made to the SOUND BANK in my sonic darning project. Here is the entry for 3rd June; I have no idea what it was going to be last year, but this year – in the mending of the gaps in the SOUND BANK – I recorded the sound of seagulls outside Jelly. Suzanne thinks Thursday is rubbish collection day as apparently every Thursday there is much seagull noise.

WW points consumed: many many in between post-work pint + dosai, little nibbles on the popcorn that is part of The Sonic Tuck Shop and Ainsley’s tasty couscous. Think it was regrettably about 30…

500 is the number of MB of phone Internet that I have used up, and 3 is the number of GB of mobile broadband that I have also used up. I am currently sharing Mark’s wifi and the lesson to be learned here is 1. not to download so many sounds on my mobile (even if it does result in the ultimate sonic address book) and 2. not to watch Desperate Housewives on 4oD using mobile broadband, even if my mind has turned to mush, even if I can’t face any of the reading I have lined up for myself, and even if I have been working very, very hard.

There are other less spiritually and economically expensive ways to relax; I know this now.
