I had an idea this year to make advent calendars. The idea was to sew 24 little pockets and put great things in them for all the 24 days up until Christmas. I haven’t had time to do this, but it did occur to me that I could put one photo onto my blog everyday and talk about the significance of it, between now and 25th December, thus making a kind of advent calendar.
Today’s photo is from our informal Christmas knitting session at Prick Your Finger today and features Elly, modelling my Xmas walking stick cosy idea: a candy-cane design. The idea is that placing the cosy over a stick will cause it to resemble a red and white striped candy cane. The cosy in its early stages makes an excellent Elly-trunk-protector.
I have received the great news today that my application to participate in Ovada’s Nightfair before Christmas event next Saturday was successful; therefore The Missability Radio Show will be out in full force at Gloucester Green on Saturday the 8th December. There will be postcards, copies of The Missability News, Stickers, button-badges and other assorted joy assembled on the stall, and the candy-cane-cosy will be knitted during the day. Anyone with questions about its construction can come along for a real live demonstration!
Thanks everyone who came to Prick Your Finger today; it was really lovely to see everyone and the wonderful hospitality of Rachael and Louise was really appreciated. Thanks to Liz for the truly spectacular home-made Custard Creams; they really were delicious!
